Organizing Your Own Flash Mob

So if you still haven’t heard about a flash mob, here’s something to start with:
What is a flash mob?
It is a group of people who assemble at a predetermined place, perform an unusual act in synchronization for a brief time and then go their own ways. The purpose is to celebrate diversity in an artistic way. This group of people are not related in any way, they are informed and instructed through social media, telecommunications or e-mails. These people may be students, commuters or just anybody who wants to be a part of something fun. It was initiated as a sarcastic joke on punks and hipsters, but it back-fired and is now used as a social message instead; the message can be anything, can be a social issue or just for fun.
What is not a flash mob?
A flash mob is not something meant for commercial gains. People do it because they want to, not tempted by any sort of gain. And it never encourages or supports violence. Any group that is violent or wild is never a flash mob. A flash mob is peaceful in its own way, ordered and a five-minute affair.
Over the years, many flash mob events have been organised in many countries. Every time there has been a mixed reaction to these gatherings. While some people dismiss it as something pointless and a wastage of time, others advocate reasoning that it is just a self-less act meant to unify people in a different way, to make a monotonous day memorable and is simple fun.
If social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter promise to make you a part of the society, flash mobs give you a chance to do something real for the same cause. It can be dancing, pillow-fighting or just any other activity that is considered stupid by the same critics.
